Are You Truly Living? Let’s Revisit This Question

Newsletter

Hey there, my friends!

A friend messaged me about a podcast episode I released back in January 2023. They said it hit them right where they needed it. I listened to it and basically preached to myself! I needed that reminder! It got me thinking: maybe you could use this reminder too.

The episode is one of my favorites. In it, I wrestled with a powerful truth:

  • Everybody dies, but not everybody truly lives.

It’s easy to fall into the trap of going through the motions—day after day, same routine, no drive, no spark. But that’s not living; that’s just surviving.

In the short episode, we dig into:

  • How to find what makes you come alive.
  • Why it’s crucial to pursue your purpose (even when it’s hard).
  • The importance of having a goal to fuel your days.
  • How your legacy is built by living fully right now.

Life isn’t a given, and if you’re still breathing, you’re here for a reason. So let me ask you:

What’s been tugging at your heart? What’s the next step toward living your life with purpose?

Here’s the link to revisit the episode: MWM Episode 61: Everyone Dies, Not Everyone Lives.

So, let me challenge you:

  1. Listen to the episode and reflect: What would “truly living” look like for you?
  2. Take one small step today toward that vision—no matter how big or small it feels.
  3. Keep moving forward, even when it’s tough.
  4. Share this newsletter with someone else who might need some encouragement.

Friend, you’ve got incredible potential inside you. It’s time to dig deep, find it, and live a life that matters.

On the journey with you,
David

P.S. I’d love to hear what this episode sparks for you—hit reply and let me know!

Hey friends, Let’s be real for a minute—running outside in the heat, wind, or rain makes you tougher. The unpredictability of the elements sharpens both your body and your mindset. There’s no climate control. No “pause” button. You learn to adapt. You build grit. But let’s not act like the treadmill’s soft. There’s a different kind of strength required when you're staring at the same wall or window for miles. No breeze, no change of scenery—just the hum of the belt and your own voice...

Hey friends! I wanted to take a moment to share something I’m incredibly grateful for… This week, I found out that Run the Riot Podcast was listed #5 on Feedspot’s 30 Best Ultra Running Podcasts! How cool is that?? You can check out the full list here: 30 Best Ultra Running Podcasts I never started the podcast for recognition—I started it because I love this community and I’m fascinated by the stories behind the miles. That this little podcast has grown and connected with so many runners is...

You Weren’t Meant to Run Alone Hey Reader, This past weekend, something special happened at the Prairie Spirit 100. I was out there testing out my knee and pushing through another 100-mile race. I'll probably speak to that more in a future podcast. I had some observations as I watched others around me. Photo by Mile 90 Photography Sure, there were some strong runners. Some big, crazy, buckle-worthy efforts. Records broken. And plenty of grit on display. But what stood out most to me wasn’t...
